Since our incorporation in 1991, RJB Electrical has consistently strived to employ, train and guide our staff to be the best the industry has to offer.
Our recently graduated electrical apprentice, Timothy Cubbin, exhibited an exceptional level of commitment, enthusiasm and an unrivalled work ethic and it was a pleasure to guide Timothy through his apprenticeship period. It was Timothy’s commitment and dedication that saw RJB Electrical nominate him for the 2014 NECA Apprentice Awards.
 Timothy is now a fully licensed electrician who has continued to excel in his training and further studies having already various qualifications.  Timothy’s experiences during his apprenticeship and employment with RJB Electrical are shared in his personal statement.

“My name is Timothy Cubbin and I have been employed by RJB Electrical Engineering since 2009, at which time I began my electrical apprenticeship.
When I commenced my apprenticeship with RJB Electrical Engineering, I was looking for a company that could provide me with experience in a wide range of industrial and manufacturing technology. I completed a trial period with RJB Electrical Engineering and was thoroughly enjoying my work. I started at an ink manufacturing plant, where our team of electricians and instrument fitters were employed to maintain the site, attend breakdowns, build control panels and install all required upgrades.
I have always been encouraged during my employment with RJB Electrical Engineering to further my education. I believe that this is due to the fact that RJB Electrical Engineering covers a broad range of fields and the need for further education is necessary to allow me to continue to excel in my field.
- Certificate III in Electro-technology trade Electrician;
- (EEHA) Electrical Equipment in Hazardous areas – Statement of Attainment – Installation and maintenance of electrical equipment in hazardous areas;
- Certificate IV in Systems Electrician;
- Certificate IV in Industrial Electronics and Control;
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering;
- Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering;
- Currently studying Bachelor Degree of Electrical Engineering with a Diploma in Engineering Practice at the University of Technology Sydney.
- Designing and building a bulk powder delivery system motor control centre and control panel;
- Installation of waste water treatment plant;
- Automation changes on soft drink lines;
- Installations, maintenance and inspections in hazardous areas;
- Designing and constructing control panels;
- PLC & HMI programming;
- VFD/VSD setup and fault finding
- Motor control systems;
- CAD drawing;
- Data and communication systems;
- Sound knowledge and understanding of Work, Health & Safety;
In the immediate future I wish to continue my studies, expanding my knowledge base and allowing me to excel in my chosen field. In addition, I am currently enjoying representing RJB Electrical in my role as the Plant Electrical Engineer for an Ink Manufacturer who has been a long term client. This gives me the opportunity to work on upgrading and designing machinery such as tank farms, pumping stations, level control, pressure transducers, milling systems, hazardous area installations, static earthing, preventative maintenance measures, conducting meetings and supplying reports, programming, screen design, machine safety guarding and helping our electricians with breakdowns. This opportunity has been enjoyable as it is practical challenging, hands on and keeps me thinking and motivated.
I am greatly appreciative of the opportunities and support provided to me during the course of my apprenticeship with RJB Electrical Engineering Pty Limited and hope to continue my employment with the company well into the future.”
